Longtime Massachusetts State Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante dies from pancreatic cancer
Ferrante was Vice Chairwoman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Ann-Margaret Ferrante was a Democratic legislator in Masssachusetts. In 2021, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. On November 27, 2025, Ferrante passed away.
Ferrante began her career in politics as a staffer for Republican Massachusetts State Representative Bruce Tarr, who has since become Minority Leader of the State Senate. “For me, this loss is profoundly personal. Ann-Margaret was not only a trusted legislative partner, but also a cherished friend - someone my family and I considered part of our own,” Tarr said. Others to pay tribute to Ferrrante have included Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, U.S. Senator Ed Markey and U.S. Representative Seth Moulton.
In 2008, Ferrante was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives after defeating incumbent Anthony Verga in the Democratic primary. She was re-elected eight times.
Ann-Margaret Ferrante was a native of the coastal city of Gloucester in northern Massachusetts. She graduated from Tufts University, Suffolk University and Harvard University.
