Former Wisconsin State Assemblyman Dan Schooff, Department of Administration Secretary running for the Beloit Board of Education
Schooff was the Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Committee on Small Business and Economic Development.
Dan Schooff has long been active in politics and education in Wisconsin. He is now seeking a local office in his native city of Beloit.
Schooff has entered the 2026 race for the Board of Education for Beloit. Three of the board’s seats are up for a vote this year, and one incumbent in Brian Nichols, the body’s Vice President, has announced that he will not seek re-election.
A Democrat, Schooff first won a seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly via the 45th District in 1998. He was re-elected twice before stepping aside in 2004 when he joined the administration of Governor Jim Doyle. In 2010, Doyle appointed Schooff to his Cabinet as the Secretary of the State Department of Administration.
Following Doyle’s retirement, Schooff joined Beloit College. He eventually rose to the position of Vice President for Advancement and Facilities before retiring in 2025.
Dan Schooff is a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Outside of politics, he was a senior official with the now-Beloit Sky Carp professional baseball team.
