Alabama U.S. Representative Barry Moore running for the U.S. Senate
He is currently the Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry and Horticulture.
Barry Moore is a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Alabama. He is now seeking a seat in the United States Senate.
Moore has announced his candidacy for the 2026 Republican nomination for one of Alabama’s Senate seats. He joins a field that includes State Attorney General Steve Marshall. Incumbent Tommy Tuberville, an ex-college football coach, is not running for re-election having chosen instead to run for Governor of Alabama.
Currently, Moore holds his seat in the U.S. House via Alabama’s 1st District, which partially includes the Mobile area. His first Congressional campaign came in 2018. That year, he challenged incumbent 2nd District U.S. Representative Martha Roby. Moore finished in third place in the Republican primary behind Roby and former Democratic U.S. Representative and Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright.
By 2020, Roby had opted for retirement. Moore ran again and won. He was re-elected in 2022 before being moved to the 1st District. Previously, he was won a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives from the 91st District in 2010, defeating Democratic incumbent Terry Spicer. He was re-elected to the State House in 2014.
Barry Moore is a native of Coffee County, Alabama. He graduated from Enterprise State Community College and Auburn University. Additionally, he served in the United States Army.
In 1992, Moore married Heather Hopper. They have four children.
